It's a dilemma that has haunted women for centuries: a task so arduous, it ranks up there with finding an honest mechanic or the ever-elusive Mr. Right. Finding the perfect hairstylist is not just about hair, but often about personality. A great hair professional is your friend and therapist, as well as your stylist. It's he or she who inspires you to buy a certain product for more volume, or convinces you that a new style will make you look 10 years younger. In fact, once we find that ideal someone, we tend to be so loyal that we'll follow him or her anywhere, even if it's a schlep. With this in mind, we set out to find Westchester's finest hair-care pros. Some we found by referral, and some we simply sought out. Then to see who's about hair and who's about hype, we put each one to the test with our own lustrous locks. Here's our final cut.
